Marketplace 2009 – Thoughts
I had the opportunity to attend Marketplace 2009, a “reverse” government trade show, last Wednesday with several members of our team. I thought I would share a little about the experience.
The turnout was amazing. Over 500 participants filled the Sheraton Imperial at RTP, but it was not difficult at all to speak with representatives from different companies and government agencies. In fact, many local, large corporations were actively seeking opportunities to partner with small businesses. The experience also lent itself well to networking with other participants – something you can’t do enough of in these troubled economic times.
For those of you who are not familiar with the Small Business & Technology Development Center (SBTDC), it is a GREAT resource – especially for small businesses. The SBTDC offers a variety of classes through the community college system as well as business counseling resources at little or no charge. I just thought I would share this information, as the SBTDC has been an invaluable resource for our organization!
If you are a small business owner or work with a small business, I would definitely recommend participating in future Marketplace events.
